Working With Me
1st Consultation – up to 1 hour
Your first appointment will start with me taking a detailed case history. I will ask you to describe the problem that has brought you to seek my help and then we will talk through any current or past history of other problems that might be related.
I will also ask you about your current and past medical history, including things like heart problems, medication, previous injuries or surgeries and so on. This is to make sure that any treatment we decide on together is safe and appropriate and also to ensure that we don’t miss any underlying health problems that might be relevant to why you need treatment.
In that first appointment, if treatment is appropriate, I may use osteopathic or massage techniques, or a combination of both. Treatment methods will always be decided upon in discussion with you and if you already have a clear idea of what sort of treatment you want then of course that will be taken into account.
At that first appointment I will make a recommendation for a treatment plan.
Follow-up appointments – 30 or 60 minutes
You may only need one or two appointments or, depending on the nature of the problem, I may suggest you commit to a slightly longer treatment programme so that we can get to the bottom of the issue and make sure that your problem is as fully resolved as possible.
If the agreed treatment plan is for 3 or more appointments (after the initial consultation) it will be possible to arrange a package of treatment which is payable in advance and will enable you to reduce the fee. You will be offered this if appropriate to your situation but there is no obligation to take it up, you are welcome to proceed with treatment on an appointment by appointment basis at the standard fee.
Getting the most from your treatment plan
It is often the case that a key part of successfully managing and resolving a problem is making some changes to what you do at home and at work between appointments, and usually on an ongoing basis once treatment has stopped. These changes might include introducing exercises, changes to working and commuting set ups, nutrition, improvements in managing stress and getting more, and better quality, sleep. I will guide you to make these changes and will support you in any way I can.
Close links with other therapists
I work alongside other highly skilled health professionals both within Head to Toe Health, the clinic I established in 2016 where I am based, and in the wider Tonbridge area. This means that where necessary I am able to call on the expertise of other qualified people for support or may indeed refer you directly if this is appropriate. Among others this includes podiatry/chiropody, hypnotherapy, sports massage, reflexology, aromatherapy and nutrition.
